ABSTRACT
Management of coal combustion by-products in the form of ash from the power plant is currently big challenge. In the case of coal combustion by-products from pulverized-fuel boiler the effects of their addition to the concrete mixtures are well known in regard to the strength, durability, frost resistance and corrosion resistance of concrete. However, in the case of ashes from fluidized bed boilers, the impact of this ashes on these parameters is not deeply defined. The article presents the results of frost resistance of concrete containing various fractions of bottom ash from pul- verized-fuel boilers and fluidized bed boilers. The results indicate that it is possible to replace part of the coarse aggregate or cement by ash from power plant, while requirements with regard to frost resistance of concrete are satisfied.
